After I Watched Avengers: Infinity War - Here's What I Learned About Avengers and Thanos

It beats Star Wars for box office record. Big bad Thanos is waging war on big screens. People are talking about it.

Well, The Avengers: Infinity War is indeed worth talking about.

This movie is one of the most thrilling cinematic wars that every movie enthusiast in the Philippines should see, (and even not-so fan of Avengers). As usual, it’s filled with incredible and breath-taking fights scenes. But more than that, you could learn so much from it; not only from the protagonist but also from the villain. The villain is actually I guess is the best villain I’ve ever watched yet. The journey was both spectacular and thrilling.

So what did I learn from the Avengers?

1. People/friends before powers. Thanos was able to get the stones which gave him extraordinary power because of what is like blackmailing, using its opponent’s emotion to get what he wanted. He was able to get each stone in exchange of the life of the character whom one is attached or closed to. He was able to get the space stone from Loki because of threating to kill Thor, the latter’s brother and god of thunder. Thanos was also able to make Gamora agree to bring him to where the soul stone can be found by torturing the latter’ so called sister Nebula. 

2. We all need teamwork. Apparently, the Avengers is a team that fights for people. Thanos has been too powerful but with teamwork, the hero and guardians were still able to do their best to somehow save half of the universe.

3. Things should be equal and fair. Every Avenger has played an equal part in fighting the Big bad Thanos. Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Spider Man take the flight to the former home world of Thanos. Thor, on the other hand, travelled with Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy to look for the place where they can find a replacement to his then destroyed powerful hammer. Scarlet Witch, Bruce Banner, and Captain America defend the planet as well as the vision stone, shoulder-to-shoulder with Winter Soldier, Black Panther as well as his loyal warriors.

What did I learned from Thanos?

This may sound ridiculous but I learned that you could get what you want if you just focus and put all your effort and time into it. He faced too many struggles to get the infinity stone, including the need to sacrifice the one he loves.

It’s also just amazing to know that no matter how bad he is portrayed, he has still this side that knows how to love. 

He also showed how perception can change everything, especially how you see the good and evil. He perceive killing as showing mercy. 

The lessons that can be learned from this movie are too many to note. 

In a nutshell, not only does this movie entertains. It is simply spectacular and delivers lot of lessons that we could use in life. 

However, to fully understand and appreciate the movie, it would pay off if you’ll take time to watch the previous Avengers movies beforehand.

Doctor Strange won’t be hitting theatres until November 15, but the excitement for Marvel’s next blockbuster movie is already at an all-time following positive reactions from different critics and journalists. Now the question is, “Can Doctor Strange still make this new flip of origin story exciting”? Can it score another striking smash? The answer looks YES.

Doctor Strange is considered as Marvel’s weirdest movie by far. The new hero origin movie blazes afire with impressive reviews, from its hypnotic visuals, to Cumberbatch’s performances and the origin story itself.

Critics believe that the formulaic Marvel Studios can deliver an entirely interesting big screen hit in the form of Doctor Strange. It’s the most recent proof of a great talent on and behind the screen. And just like you, I’m so excited to watch this move in the big screen. But before that, here are some attention-worthy Doctor Strange reviews that you should know before watching it.

The movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, a very narcissistic wealthy guy who learns unimaginable things that an ordinary guy can never learn- that there’s not just single universe and that there is bunch of magical guys whose job is to protect the earth from mystical nemesis. As he is driving one night, he ended up in a road crash and lost his hands. His life entirely changed. Until he makes his way to Kathmandu, Nepal and train to be a sorcerer by The Ancient One, portrayed by Tilda Swinton. Then and there, he will be trained to be a powerful yet humble hero.

Doctor Strange boasts a decent amount of clever aspects not only in the screenplay but most especially in the trippy action scenes and visual tricks. I was amazed with the Inceptionare effects, with high-rise buildings bending themselves, but this one is way better. I love the 2001-Star-Gate-sequence-themed trippy multiverse shots, fight-on-the-wall, the upside down, jump-to-this-dimension scene and the way how the good guys use their mystical powers. Plus, the 3D has also dramatically improved. Yes, meticulous movie faultfinder like me has so many good things to say about the movie.

Praises and complements have heaped out about the social effects, too. The composer, Michael Giacchinos, whose past pieces include Lost, Jurassic World, Xmen Apocalypse And The Incredibles, also receive impressive reviews from critics because of his distinctive score.

But there are some negatives that didn’t pass by the altruistic and keen eyes of the critics.  For instance, I found out that the sense of humor is a bit out of place particularly with some of the movie’s darker tones. It also has a few classic Marvel chiches such as the better-than-average villain. But despite of these simple setbacks, the overall consensus looks great. The rest of it is all good and it feel fresh and interesting making it one of Marvel’s vivid superhero spectacle.

Now I won’t spoil the fun for you viewers! At the end of the movie, I think that it is really about what it should leave its audience thinking about. More than just a distinctive film, it is a visually spectacular superhero entertainment that Marvel fans should never miss out.

Let’s be ready to be blown away by this stunning visual extravaganza.

Scarlet Witch Will Be A “Wild Card” In Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War has just wrapped up from their filming location in Atlanta, and fans are eager to find out anything new about Marvel’s first movie into Phase 3. Last month we got to see a couple of concept art that revealed Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America’s (Chris Evans) team. But two characters were left out from the images; that is Marvel’s version of Spider-Man, and the recently introduced character from Avengers: Age of UItron – Scarlet Witch. For now, it’s anyone’s guess on which team the two will be on, but one of the stars might give us a clue on what her character will become in Civil War.

In an interview with MTV about her latest film “I Saw the Light”, Elizabeth Olsen revealed some details about her character’s state in the next Marvel film and why Scarlet Witch was not featured in the concept art.

 "She’s OK. She’s doing alright.” Olsen said. “She’s confused, she’s conflicted. She’s found some people she thinks she connects with, but she’s doing alright. They released images of Team Cap and Team Iron Man. She wasn’t there. She’s always the wild card. I like being the wild card."

From what it looks like, it seems that her state as a wild card will play a big role in the film considering that her powers are well beyond what other heroes can manage. But this does suggest that she will be switching sides during the movie, and whatever team she picks will have a big advantage with her on their side. As for her powers, Olsen tells MTV that Scarlet Witch will have a huge transformation in the film, which tells us that she will have a much more powerful ability than when we last saw her in Age of Ultron.

"It’s not a new hand technique per say. We’re trying to grow her movement as a whole… Jenny and I have great pride in trying to make this a huge transformation — the next time we see her — of her abilities."

There was a rumor earlier this month that Scarlet Witch will be responsible for the event that results in the passing of the Superhuman Registration Act, leading to Civil War. This was never confirmed however, but photos from the filming location show her and Captain America chasing Crossbones, who was wearing what seems like a vest packed with explosives. Whether this scene will lead to the disaster that split the Avengers apart, we’ll just have to wait and see. Captain America: Civil War will open to theaters on May 6th, 2016.

Chris Evans Weighs In On The Future Of Superhero Movies

The superhero genre is a big hit in Hollywood right now. Every year there are tons of superhero films being released. Just this year we saw the premiere of Marvel's second superhero team-up in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the last film in their Phase Two initiative – Ant-Man. There's also Fox's failed attempt at rebooting their other franchise besides the X-Men – Josh Trank's dark and gritty Fantastic Four. While some of these failed to impress the critics and the movie audiences, it's still another addition into the ever growing list of superhero films produced just this decade. Even more interesting, next year will be the release of a lot of big superhero films from popular properties such as Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: Civil War, Deadpool, and X-Men Apocalypse to list a few. While some might agree with Steven Spielberg that superhero films will go “the way of the western” (fade off in popularity), other artists are still optimistic about the future of the genre.

Chris Evans is one of these optimists. After all, he was a part of the rise of this genre when he played the Human Torch in 2005's Fantastic Four and its sequel. And right now he's starring in his third  solo film as Captain America, one of the most popular heroes from Marvel. He left the Civil War filming location recently to promote his directorial debut “Before We Go”, and in an interview with Collider he was asked about his thoughts on Spielberg's statement.

According to Evans, the improvement of technology is what drives the genre, as well as other types of films that makes use of this technological advancement:

“I certainly think that given the fact that technology has finally advanced, they’re always going to be looking for other films to match their technological accomplishments. Any film that can incorporate these larger-than-life characters and fantastical locations and plots, the technology wants to prove they can do it so whether it’s superhero film or fantasy in general, that’s going to surge for a while.”

He also stated that for the superhero genre to last longer, it has to be approached with something new to add to the table and keep reinventing the genre:

“In terms of superhero in general, existing properties that we know and love, it’s going to be a matter of the tone they strike. You could look at Jason Bourne as a superhero. You could take any superhero movie and if you ground it enough, if you make it real enough—that’s what I think [Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo] do really well. Certain superhero movies feel like “superhero movies.” Russo movies almost feel like human stories with a little bit of superhero sprinkled in. So you might get exhausted of the larger-than-life powers I suppose, but as long as the filmmakers keep on reinventing the flavor and the approach and the tone, audiences are going to still go.”

From what it seems like, future superhero films are already adding other elements to the mix. Marvel's attempt at a Spider-Man reboot will be akin to a John Hughes film, while David Ayer compared his Suicide Squad to the Dirty Dozen. Whether this will be successful in preventing it from going the way of the western or not, we'll have to wait and see. If Evans is right, then the genre might last longer. Chris Evans will likely be moving to the next filming location for Captain America: Civil War, which premieres to theaters on May 6, 2016.

Sebastian Stan Talks About Ant-Man Post-Credit Scene And Civil War

Spoiler Alert: We're going to talk about the post credit scene in Marvel's Ant-Man, so if you haven't seen it yet, you still have time to look away.

            One of the most anticipated films of 2016 is Marvel's start of their Phase 3 of films, which starts with Captain America: Civil War. Now if you've seen the post-credits scene from Ant-Man, you'll know that there has been some introduction to what we might expect to see in the 2016 movie. The Civil Warstory is based on the comics written by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. In it we see Tony Stark/Iron Man and Steve Rogers/Captain America on opposite side as the U.S. government plans to have a registration for heroes, and those who don't will be captured and taken to prison.

            This isn't just the story that's getting to be touched upon in Civil War, since there's still the fact that Captain America is looking for the brainwashed Bucky. We don't know what Bucky's storyline will lead to in the overall plot of the film, but the post credits scene gives us a peek at what we should expect.

            In the post credits, we see the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), in a warehouse with his arm trapped in some kind of vise. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) discuss their next move, stating that they can't call Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) because of the "Accords" (which we still don't know of). With no other choice, Sam Wilson tells Steve "I know a guy", referring to Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and then we cut to  “Ant-Man will return.”

            There's lots of theories online on what was really going on in the scene. Some think Cap and Falcon has finally found Bucky and trapped him in. Well Sebastian Stan might have a clue as to what happened, as while away from the filming location he told Buzzfeed recently :

“I think [what Bucky was caught in was] more of a vise. But it would never happen at his own hand, by his own doing. In terms of that scene in Ant-Man, I’ve seen some of the ideas people have about it and I would just say that whatever you’re seeing on the surface, it’s not as obvious as that. There might be a whole lot more to the scene. I would say someone would probably want to put him in a vise.”

            Apparently Bucky didn't intentionally trap himself in the vise. But the question is, who would want to trap Bucky in there? Is it by an active Hydra member still alive? Are they trying to reactivate him?

            As for Ant-Man's involvement in the case, it seems like they will make use of his shrinking powers to free Bucky from the huge device. It looks like Ant-Man is yet to be involved in the Civil War going on, so we got that to look forward to.

            Which ever the case may be, it looks like The Winter Soldier will be playing a huge part in the Civil War. The Russo brothers are currently shooting the film, with Atlanta, Georgia serving as the filming location. We'll just have to wait and see what comes out of it when Captain America: Civil War opens to theaters on May 6th, 2016.

Captain America: Civil War' Set Photos Reveal Black Panther's Costume

                The Phase 3 of Marvel's Cinematic Universe is set to start next year, and leading the next phase is Anthony and Joe Russo's follow up to the Captain America: Winter Soldier storyline. Their upcoming film Captain America: Civil War will put Steven Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) on the opposite sides of the law. But despite the much awaited face-off between the two heroes, fans are also eager to see the introduction of Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther in the MCU.

                While on the Berlin, Germanyfilming location, we finally get to see Black Panther in action wearing his own costume. Chadwick Boseman was previously seen on set, but these photos by Comic Book Movie (link to marks the first appearance of the Black Panther costume. In the photos posted, we see Black Panther in the filming location (played by a stunt double) together with a stunt double for the Winter Soldier.

                The photos themselves don't provide more info about that particular scene. We don't know yet if they are fighting or chasing each other at this moment. However, we have heard from Kevin Feige that T’Challa will not be a part of the Civil War, but instead going after Bucky for some reason. This might be the reason why we see Black Panther and Winter Soldier together in this scene. In the images, it's also revealed that Captain America is on their tail, with a stunt double racing along a ledge of a building.

                Some fans might find the suit a little unappealing for now, but it should be noted that this is just a photo from the set and it will look far better during post-production. And from the looks of it, the suit does fare quite a resemblance with the concept art previously released by Marvel which was well received by a lot of fans.

Black Panther is the king of the fictional country of Wakanda, which was recently mentioned in Avengers: Age of Ultron as the home of vibranium. That metal was featured heavily when Ultron used it to form the Vision's body. Knowing that Black Panther comes from Wakanda, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that vibranium will be a part of his suit. Whether it's a vibranium armor to protect him from bullets or vibranium claws that can cut through anything, the highly valuable metal is sure to play a role in the film.

                With all this characters in play during the film, some are wondering how the Russo brothers will handle the load. But knowing their track record with superhero films, expect this one to be full of action and thrilling one-on-one combat. The only thing to wonder about right now is the story and how all these characters will come together. We'll just have to wait and see next year when Captain America: Civil War opens to theaters on May 6th, 2016.

Spiderman Actor Tom Holland Has Shot His Peter Parker Cameo For Civil War

        Superhero movies usually end up ditching the mask in the climactic scenes so they can see the face of the star behind. But after the success of Iron Man where we don’t see the face in the costume most of the time, it has become the norm for other superhero movies to do the same. After all, they wouldn't want their lead to do the stunts all the time and get hurt. It can also save them some time where the star wouldn't be needed on the filming location, with the scenes being filmed by a stuntman instead. And now that stars are signed up for multi-picture deals, this method will help them keep their stars from getting tired of playing the role.

This is what happened with Spider-man, who has apparently shot his scenes on Marvel's Captain America: Civil War even before they found an actor to play as Peter Parker. In an interview with the Vulture, Spectacular Spider-Man writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein told that the cameo is already done. Goldstein talks about going to Marvel to look at the footage of Tom Holland's came as Peter Parker in the upcoming film. "We hear good things," he said. "We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting."

Even though Tom Holland has just finished his Peter Parker cameo in the filming location, this doesn't mean that he is yet to film the Spider-Man scenes. Spider-Man has been on the filming location for a while now, being played by stunt men. Tom Holland is only needed for the Peter Parker scenes, and can simply record his dialogue over the scene in a studio somewhere.

  With all this talk of a costume, one photo of the outfit is yet to appear online. There were some rumors of a fanart that became the basis of the home-made costume, but those are simply speculation for now. Another rumor that appeared was the cast list that was leaked online earlier. Daley was quick to dismiss this, saying that "We've discussed the characters, but nothing is certain yet, for sure".

Whether Spider-Man will be in the movie for an extended time or just a small cameo, we have yet to confirm. But fans definitely hope that he has more scenes than a cameo. Essentially fighting alongside the Avengers and such. What we've heard from Birth Movies Death however, is that whether a small cameo or not, his fight scene will get the fans excited, not because of how epic it is, but because of how dorky and unlikely the superhero fight will be. If it's true, then the battle will surely be one of the most anticipated scenes in Captain America: Civil War when it opens to theaters on May 6th, 2016.

Tilda Swinton Cast As The Ancient One for Marvel's Doctor Strange

Marvel took us to the past with Captain America, explored the nine realms in Thor, and took us to an adventure in space. Now we're about to see a part of the Marvel universe that has never been explored before: the supernatural. The 2016 movie Doctor Strange opens up a lot of new possibilities for the world that Marvel has built, giving us a look at the mystical part that has been missing in the franchise.

Benedict Cumberbatch, known for his role as Sherlock in the tv series, has been cast to play the titular character. 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor joins him as the doctor's nemesis Baron Mordo, which is described as an "amalgamation of characters culled from Doctor Strange's mythology." Along with this news came the rumor that Tilda Swinton was being pursued by Marvel to play the Ancient One in the film. Looks like the rumors were true.

During an interview with ScreenCrush, Swinton confirmed that she has finally accepted the deal with Marvel. She will play The Ancient One in the big screen and will perhaps appear in the following films as well. She was very enthusiastic when asked about what brought her to accept the role. "Well, there’s no particular interest in getting into something bigger, or even smaller, I just really liked the premise of this and the idea of playing this character," said Swinton. "I’m a Marvel fan and I think this particular world that Doctor Strange goes into is really, really, really exciting. I’m really interested as both an actor and a fan to see what’s done in this particular world. It’s all about creativity. It’s not about everything exploding at the end. It’s about something very different. The idea of playing The Ancient One is really just too tickling. I can’t say no to that!"

She doesn't say how she will tackle her portrayal of the role, but she said she's excited to figure it out. Swinton also wasn’t worried about the multi-picture deals that are attached to starring in a Marvel film, saying that at this point it's like "holding on to the tail of a galloping horse".

In the comics, the Ancient One is a Tibetan mystic who will teach Dr. Strange in the ways of the mystic arts so he could become the next Sorcerer Supreme. The character is usually portrayed as an old tibetan man, but Kevin Feige confirmed that they are changing the origin of the character to avoid the controversial points that the story was known for back in the day. The Ancient One will instead be a mantle, having been passed on for generations.


Tilda Swinton doesn't shy in playing mysterious and otherworldly characters, and she has done a great job in her projects. This casting might just be the perfect decision, even though the fans might not agree with the change.

Production hasn't started yet, but it will begin shooting next year at the Pinewood's  Shepperton Studios filming location. Marvel has had a close relationship with Shepperton, having used their studios as filming locations in their previous films. We're guessing that this will be where Swinton will be spending most of her shoot, knowing that the film will rely mostly on special effects and CGI backdrops for its magical aspects.
